My mission as a university teacher

My vision as a university teacher consists of three elements: First, my goal is to convey psychological knowledge and mechanisms. Here, I want to share my enthusiasm about psychology with and motivate my students to go beyond the mandatory workload and delve deeper into topics that interest them the most. Second, I strive to fostering my students’ ability of critical thinking to build the foundation for responsible action in any context. Third, the students’ personal development is important to me. In this sense, I am committed to the basic principles of Humboldt’s Ideal, according to which the development of personal abilities and talents should play a central role in university education.

My approach as a university teacher

Authenticity as well as interacting and engaging with students at eye level are key factors of my teaching. To realize that and to create a place which enables students to learn and grow, I commit to and apply the following three principles: First, providing autonomy within a framework with clear structures and requirements. Second, transparent and fair evaluation of performance based on measurable and pre-defined, specific criteria. This also includes the opportunity to obtain feedback. Third, fostering diversity and inclusion to create a safe environment in which everyone can thrive and grow.
